Make fun faux fur pom pom Christmas ornaments for your Christmas tree.
I’ve been working on our Rustic Themed Christmas for a few years now.
I’ve been adding new DIY ornaments to our Christmas tree every year and this year is no exception!
This year’s new DIY Rustic Christmas Ornaments are these Faux Fur Pom Pom Christmas Ornaments.
Since last year I’ve been on the hunt for inexpensive faux fur pom poms that I could use to make ornaments.
Christmas went by last year and I never found what I was looking for. Well, I did find really nice ones but they were quite pricey and especially so when you consider how many I would need to decorate my tree.
My luck changed a few weeks ago when I was roaming the Michael’s Christmas section.
I was walking through the Christmas branch pick section and I came across branch picks that had three faux fur pom poms attached to them. They had them in white and brown.
I looked at them closely and I knew I could upcycle them into ornaments. They were inexpensive and they were also 50% off. YAHOO!!
I was really happy with the white and brown ones, but I did want grey ones too.
Would you believe that I came across a pack of grey ones at the end of a row in the Wedding Section?
The pack had 9 inside the bag in various sizes and they were $8.99 Canadian. With my 40% coupon I had on me, they came to not expensive at all. SCORE!

Supplies:
- Faux fur pom poms
- Sueded cording
- Thread and needle
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun (optional)
- Hair straightener (optional)
P.S. Want to see the different sizes of grey pom poms I had in the packaging I bought?
Instructions:
Step 1: I started off by cutting the pom poms off the branch pick.
Step 2: Suede cording tends to have creases from being wrapped around the cardboard packaging.
In order to straighten out the cording, I use my hair straightener on a low setting to iron out the creases.
Step 3: I cut the suede cording to a length of 10″. I used color coordinating thread and needle to attach the suede cording to the pom poms.
OR
If you want a fast option, you can also hot glue the suede cording to the faux fur pom poms.
This works really well too and it’s the method I used for the last few brown and white pom poms and for all my grey pom poms.
And voilà!
