Quick Fixes Around the House – Tackling the to-do list

I am proud to be a 3M-sponsored blogger, and as a part of my responsibilities, I get the opportunity to evaluate 3M products. Opinions are my own and additional products used in the project were selected by me.

Do you have a to-do list of things you need to fix or improve around your house? How about we tackle that to-do list together? Awesome! Let’s do it!

Quick Fixes around the House

Quick fixes around the house. Learn how to tackle your to-do list quickly.

We all have things around our house that need to be fixed or improved. I’ve noticed (in our case anyways) the smaller the thing, the lower it gets on the to-do list. Is it the same thing at your house? Seriously, the to-do list would be so much shorter if we would just do the simple things right away rather than just putting them off.

Since I’m equipped with Scotch® Extreme Mounting Tape, Scotch™ Extreme Fasteners, and Scotch® Clear Mounting Tape, I decided to tackle my to-do list with things I could fix or improve with these products. Why? Oh, because I will be able to get a bunch of things scratched off my list in no time. I built a Nail-Less, Screw-Less, Glue-Less Birdhouse with these products, imagine what else I can do around the house! This post contains some affiliate links for your convenience. Sliding Window Pulls

We have old school sliding windows, as in glass sliding over glass (you can see them here). They are so old that the window pulls don’t actually work, they fall off as soon as you try to close the windows. We had given up on them to the point where we would just pull on the windows themselves in order to close them. Luckily though, we found a solution! We placed Scotch® Extreme Mounting Tape on the glass and put the window pulls back on. Since the mounting tape is thick, we only placed it on one side of the window. Let me tell you, IT WORKS! We can now open and close our windows easily.

Stop Slipping Carpet

We have a super cute chindi rug in our entryway. The only problem is that it constantly slides out of place. Every time we walk in and step on it, it slips. We used Scotch™ Extreme Fasteners to solve the slipping issue. Before we applied the Scotch™ Extreme Fasteners, we made sure that both the rug and floor were clean. You may be wondering why we chose to use the fasteners rather than mounting tape, simply because we’ll be able to remove the rug as often as we want in order to clean it! P.S. Vacuuming the rug is so much easier now too!

Install Baseboard Moulding

As we were placing the rug in place, we remembered we hadn’t installed the baseboard mouldings yet in the entryway. OUPS! Quick fix? Yes! We opted to use Scotch® Extreme Mounting Tape to fasten them into place.

Shifting Soap Dispenser

Our soap dispenser is always shifting around. Every time we use it we need to apply extra pressure in order to keep it in place as we pump soap out. Maybe it shifts and slides because I have it on my sink, however I like the location. To solve the problem, we applied Scotch™ Extreme Fasteners to the sink and the bottom of the soap dispenser! Smart right?! It now stays in place without the extra pressure, making it easier to use. We can also remove it when we want to add more soap to the dispenser!

Keeping Knickknacks in place

Remember the Instagram Photo Stands I made last year? I still LOVE them, however there’s one little issue. They tend to shift around when there are big movements in front of them. It’s not that big of a deal, but there are 25 of them so it takes a little while to get them all lined up again. Scotch® Clear Mounting Tape came to the rescue! We applied some mounting tape underneath each photo stand. No more shifting photo stands!

Broken Decoration Pieces

I have a few decoration pieces that need to be fixed. One of which is a two-sided mirrored tea light holder that goes in my bedroom. One of the mirrors fell off of it quite a while back, instead of fixing it I just turned it around so that the other mirror was showing. Want to know how I fixed it? With the help of Scotch® Extreme Mounting Tape! Easy as 1-2-3 to fix! P.S. Do you want a good laugh? As I was fixing the side the mirror had fallen off of, the other side fell off too! hehe No big deal, I fixed it right after with some Scotch® Extreme Mounting Tape.

Shifting Wall Art

I assume I’m not the only one who has wall art and frames that tend to shift? For example, I have 6 decorative mirrors in my bedroom that always move around, especially when we open and close our closet door. I’m constantly straightening them out. To prevent them from shifting again, we applied a small piece of Scotch® Clear Mounting Tape to the bottom of each mirror. Problem solved!

Broken Dresser Knobs

Emanuelle has beautiful crystal-like knobs on her dresser. They are beautiful but they keep falling off. She has more knobs not attached than she does attached! No problem though, we reattached them with Scotch® Clear Mounting Tape! Yay!

Making Wall Art

The girls and I have been collecting feathers we have been finding around the house. We have a bag full of them. I realized that it’s boring to collect things and not display them, especially when they are as pretty as feathers. Why not make wall art with the feathers? That’s exactly what we did!

We started off by attaching a thick piece of white paper to the back of a white framing mount with a few pieces of Scotch® Matte Finish Magic™ Tape. Once we decided which feathers we wanted to display, we applied Scotch® Clear Mounting Tape on the calamus of each feather. We removed the backing and attached the feathers to the white paper. We placed the white paper and the framing mount inside the frame. Voilà, quick and easy wall art!

Falling Doorbell

A while back we bought a new doorbell system for our house. We liked that it was a quick installation system where we just had to plug in the doorbell chime and the push buttons had adhesive tape behind them. However, the adhesive tape behind the push buttons is not very good, resulting in the push buttons constantly falling off. Thankfully, we resolved the issue by applying Scotch® Extreme Mounting Tape behind them! Yay! Now people don’t have to look around the ground to find them! Haha

It’s crazy the amount of stuff that can be fixed or improved with the use of Scotch® Extreme Mounting Tape, Scotch™ Extreme Fasteners, and Scotch® Clear Mounting Tape right? Since they are so easy to use and make everything so much faster to fix, it gets very addictive! I keep looking around the house for stuff to fix! I actually just fastened the thermometer to the window seal and while I was outside I attached a rubber piece that keeps falling off the inside of our van. I tell you, it’s hard to stop!

Do you have ideas of where else I could use these products?
Or maybe you have something to fix/improve that could you use some Scotch®?

Have yourself a FABULOUS day!

Ooooh, these are great ideas!!! I agree with you about the little jobs... we just bought a condo that is full of "little jobs" that need to get fixed up. We're slowly tackling them all but sometimes we're not even sure how to fix something. I'll have to check out these Scotch products!!! We have a sliding rug but it's on carpet... I wonder if I could tape a rug to a carpet? I'll have to think about it! :) Thanks for sharing!

My to do list is spiralling out of control. I was actually in the middle of creating a new one when I got to your page! LOL! I can't believe you were able to use the mounting tape for so much including the baseboards - that is incredible. I have so much artwork and the baseboards in the basement were never replaced when my husband fixed the wall, we are definitely going to put these products to good work!
