Feature Post and Giveaway – Fabricworm

My friends from Fabricworm are here today answering a few questions I asked them so that you could get to know them better!!

Who is Andrea?
Well Hello! My name is Andrea, and I am the manager/buyer of and for Fabricworm.com. I wear many hats, but am helped along by an amazing team staff and our owner Cynthia.

How did Fabricworm come about?
Fabricworm came about because our owner Cynthia found a real lack of cute and modern prints for boys in the market place. As a new mother of two boys, she decided to fill the niche herself. You’ll find lots of feminine prints at Fabricworm, but our heart lies with the illustrations and prints we find for boys.

Do you run Fabricworm by yourself along with the owner Cynthia?
Absolutely not! We have a very talented group of staff that we couldn’t possibly do this without! We feel very fortunate to have such an amazing staff on board.

When did you start sewing? Do you still find time to sew?
I started sewing in college. I wanted to design clothing so I went to Woodbury University as a Fashion Design student where I really touched a sewing machine for the first time. I still sew, but much less often as a mother of two young kids.

Do you have a favorite color combination/fabric/designer?
I don’t think I can pin down just one color combination. Working in a fabric store really gives you the opportunity to love and appreciate many different styles and color combinations. But I would say that I lean towards the simpler designs and coordinates. I blame this on my love for apparel. I can’t look at a fabric without imagining it as an item of clothing. So I tend to lean toward small prints, retro style, and simple designs. And it’s just too hard to pick one designer! I love them all. A few favorites that come to mind are Monaluna, Rashida Jones, Melody Miller, Naomi Ito (love!), Jay-Cyn Designs, and of course all things Kokka/Japanese prints.

Does Fabricworm just carry fabrics?
The majority of our inventory are fabrics, but we also carry great sewing patterns, and put together really wonderful quilt kits that modern quilters will really love!

Running a store demands a lot of work, when you do get time off.. what do you like to do to relax?
I think most of our staff would agree that we all love to spend time with family and friends. Afterall, the fabric business is so family oriented!

Is Fabricworm exactly where you would it like to be?
I would say that we are content with our business and where we are at this point in time. We’re grateful to all of our wonderful customers for supporting our shop and sharing all of their wonderful handmade treasures with us!

Thanks so much Andrea!!!
