Spring is here! Go out and take in some Vitamin D!

You have no idea (or maybe you do) and how excited I am that Spring is finally here. We didn’t have a harsh winter, but it seems to have dragged on for much longer than we hoped. I don’t mind winter per se, but once April and May hit I’m ready for warmer weather, blooming flowers, and the beautiful sun!

Spring is absolutely my favourite season. I find everyone is in a much better and friendlier mood. It just brings out the smile in everyone. It’s like we’ve all be in need of some Vitamin D. Seriously, haven’t you noticed how friendly and smiley people get once spring arrives? Sun = Smiles

Vitamin D is good for your health

In case you weren’t aware, Vitamin D is REALLY important to your health. Your body needs it. I read a great article about Vitamin D on the Orange Naturals blog. It references interesting statistics from Statistics Canada demonstrating the importance of Vitamin D to your health.

It’s important to make sure your body gets Vitamin D. Many do not realize that there are Vitamin D supplements available. These supplements are really beneficial, especially during the months where you are not taking in as much sun (for example October 1st to May 1st).

Benefits of Vitamin D:

    • Helps to build strong bones.
    • Increases muscle mass and strength.

The best way to determine if you are taking in enough Vitamin D is to talk to your healthcare professional.

Now go outside, take in some Vitamin D, and smell the roses tulips.

I didn't realise how important vitamin d was until I started researching it and the effects a vitamin d deficiency can have. It is definitely going to be my excuse to sit on my back garden in a bikini, even if I do scare the neighbours!
