Who doesn’t love beautiful outdoor spaces? First thing you need for an outdoor space is comfortable seating like gorgeous Adirondack chairs!

Adirondack Chairs for kids
A few years back, we were checking out garage sales when we came across two wooden Adirondack chairs for kids.

I fell in love with them right away and I was determined to get them. Of course, there wasn’t a price tag on the chairs.
Ughh, I hate it when there’s no price on items for sale at a garage sale. In my mind that means that the person wants to negotiate a price, which I hate doing.
I put on my big girl pants and asked the lady how much the chairs were. My mouth hit the ground when she said $5 per Adirondack chair. WHAT?! I was so happy, no need to negotiate that price.
YAY! We grabbed them and ran! haha

The chairs were really solid and no damage, but they did need a coat of paint to bring them back to life. But talking about life, sometimes life gets in the way of simple tasks and you put things aside like painting. hehe Basically the girls have been using the chairs as is for the last 3 years. OUPS! Time to change that!

How to paint Adirondack chairs
Supplies:
– Outdoor paint and primer in one (I used BEHR MARQUEE® Exterior Satin Enamel in Perpetual Purple.)
– Paint brush
– Small paint brush
Optional:
– Paint tray
– Multi-Purpose Painter’s Tool (I always have this tool handy, it’s so useful for so many things!)

Instructions:
Step 1: Since these chairs have footrests integrated, we removed them. It allowed us to paint the entire chairs along with the footrests easily.
Step 2: We used two types of paint brushes to paint the chairs. We used regular size paint brushes most of the time, however we used little paint brushes to paint tighter spaces.

Step 3: Once the first coat was finished, we gave a second coat of paint. And we were done!

The whole painting of the Adirondack chairs was a little time consuming, I must admit. It would have been much faster using a paint sprayer, but we don’t have one. Another option would have been to buy spray paint cans.
I just LOVE how the Adirondack chairs turned out. The color is just perfect and adds such a nice pop of color to our backyard and yet compliments our swing set and our screen door.

Ready to see more photos of the Adirondack chairs? I hope so.. I have lots! hehe

To add more pop to the Adirondack chairs, I added pillows!

Outdoor Space for kids

And what do you think of the outdoor space we made for our girls? Isn’t it beautiful? I’m thinking of maybe adding a little outdoor area rug too. I think it will be a fun addition to the space.
Do your kids have a space outside where they like to hang out? I’d love to hear about it!
Have a BEAUTIFUL day!
