Embellished Flip Flops #summerofjoann
Embellished Flip Flops ~ I’m participating in the Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores “Cape Discovery” summer crafting challenge. To participate in the challenge, I was to pick a craft project in their Cape Discovery Spring Craft Catalog and reproduce it. I visited the catalog online with my daughters and had them pick which craft project they wanted to make. They both picked the Twinkle Toes aka Embellished Flip Flops project.
I headed to the Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores to pick up the supplies for the project. They had a bin full of flip flops to choose from. I picked up a pair of blue ones for me and a pair of pink ones for Gabrielle. They didn’t have a size small enough for Emanuelle, so I figured I could use a pair of flip flops that she already owns. I then found a display full of flip flop embellishments. I was on strict orders from Gabrielle to pick up jewels! Luckily they had a bunch and even had her favorite.. skulls!

Embellished Flip Flops
Supplies:
– Flip Flops
– Feather Clips
– Flower Clips
– Flip Flop Embellishments (Skulls)
– Rhinestones
– Flip Flop Glue
Instructions:
Step 1: Clip the feather or flower clips onto the flip flops.

Step 2: Use the flip flop glue to glue embellishments onto the clips. Gabrielle chose to put a skull on each of the feather clips. Step 3: Glue rhinestones onto the straps of the sandals. (It takes 24 hours for the glue to set completely, I tried using hot glue and the embellishments just fall off.)

And voilà! You are done!

If you want more ideas, instructions and tips visit Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores website.
Here’s Emanuelle hard at work on her sandals:

I let Emanuelle stick the embellishments onto her flip flops. When she was done figuring out her pattern, I removed them and used the craft glue to secure them on.

What do you think of them? I think they turned out wonderful!

Those are so cute! I spot a pair that I picked up for my daughter from Old Navy. I think I might transform them too with a little embellishment.
