Mini chalk pots are a perfect to give as gifts to your loved ones or to show your appreciation to someone special. Easy and Quick and oh so cute.
I’ve been trying to find the perfect Father’s Day gift for my hubby. I was thinking of something to go on his desk at work. Something that would remind him of his girls.
This is what I came up with:
Mini Chalk Pots
A few years ago my father gave me some Hen & Chicks (succulents) which came from my grand-mother’s plant (I believe it came from her mother’s plant). My sister mentioned that she put a few in a pot. Since mine is growing like crazy, I thought I could easily take some and put a few in little pots for Sébastien.

I picked up little terracotta pots and a rectangular white plate from the dollar store. (I didn’t want it to be too big for his desk.) I thought the mini pots would look cute on the little plate.

I also wanted the pots to be personalized. With the help of Gabrielle we painted the terracotta pots with chalk paint.
This is how we created our Mini Chalk Pots:
Step #1: We took out the chalk paint. Step #2: We applied two coats of chalk paint. Step #3: We also put a little bit of chalk paint on the inside rim.

Step #4: We dug up some Hen & Chicks (succulents). Step #5: We filled the pots with potting soil. Step #6: We planted the Hen & Chicks (succulents).

Thanks a lot!
Adorable! I need those and then write on the date when I last watered them. My plants would thank you!
I love this idea! It looks perfect for an office setting. It sure beats the traditional tie that we grew up giving our Dad every year! :) Visiting from The Shabby Nest. ~ Jamie
Oh my good lord I love this!!! I wish my hubby liked plants because then I would have a reason to make them, haha! But he doesn’t so I’ll just have to have the <3 u be for me! :D
All from the dollar store?? These are so adorable, Christine! I’m sure your husband’s going to love them!

I really love the simplicity of this! My husband wouldn’t like it unless it was streamlined and didn’t look too cute! Excellent!

I love this idea! I used chalkboard paint on a few glass jars for my sister for her birthday. She was thrilled! She looked at something similar online and they wanted $26 for 2 jars and I made them for about $5.

Simply wonderful! I love the white, black and happy succulent green together. My favorite part is the little message which says it all in such a quiet little way :)
These are so adorable, I love the idea! I painted a few flowers pots in nice pastel colors and then just made a label out of chalkboard paint to use instead of garden markers, but I like that the whole thing is painted in yours! I’d be thrilled if you would link this up to my current link party so everyone can see how cute they are! http://practicallyfunctional.net/2012/06/the-fun-in-functional-link-party-4/
