How to Soothe a Sore Throat Naturally – Tips for Kids and Adults

I’ve had my fair share of sore throats throughout the years. A sore throat is not pleasant but unlike strep throat, which must be treated with the help of your doctor, there are ways to soothe your throat using natural products.

How to Soothe a Sore Throat. Tips for Kids and Adults.

Here are my go to tricks for soothing sore throats in my family. Please note that I’m not a doctor (obviously) for any severe sore throats, fever, etc… please go see your doctor for treatment asap.

How to Soothe a Sore Throat – Tips for Kids

  • Make sure they drink a lot of liquids.
  • Teaspoon of honey daily to help soothe the throat.
  • A cup of warm water with slices of lemon and a teaspoon of honey helps soothe.
  • Oil of Oregano is a great anti-microbial, it helps to kill off viruses, bacteria, and fungus. One drop of Oil of Oregano mixed with honey can help soothe older children. For younger children, put a drop under the sole of the foot instead of orally.
  • Gargling with warm salt water can be extremely soothing for the throat as well!
  • Chamomile tea encourages relaxation and is calming to the nervous system, so it can help with getting the appropriate rest your body needs to recover from the infection.
  • Cough + Cold for Kids Orange Naturals Tincture: contains Thyme and Licorice which are soothing for the upper respiratory tract.
  • Bee propolis and zinc/echinacea lozenges.
