*****

Ready to bake up some old fashioned goodness?
Oatmeal Cookies with Maple Icing
makes about 3 dozen
cookies:
1 cup butter softened
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
2 eggs
3 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 cups rolled oats
1 cup raisins
icing:
1 cup of powdered sugar
1-2 t. milk
1/2 t. maple extract
1 T. corn syrup
Pre-heat oven to 350* and on ungreased cookie sheets place rounded teaspoonfuls of the dough. To prepare the cookie dough mix the sugars, butter, eggs and vanilla together in a large mixing bowl. In another mixing bowl combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, salt and oats. Combine well and add to the sugar mixture, then fold in raisins.
Bake approx 8-10 minutes depending on your oven and cookie size. Once they are golden around the edges, remove from oven and allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for a few minutes. Remove from sheet and finish cooling on parchment paper or waxed paper spread out on kitchen counter.
Once cookies are completely done cooling, combine the powdered sugar, milk, maple extract and corn syrup in a small bowl and stir until smooth. Drizzle over cooled cookies and allow icing to set. Store in airtight container between sheets of parchment paper or waxed paper
