Art of Marbling with Craft Paints – Martha Stewart Crafts

I was watching a home decorating television show a couple of weeks ago that showed marbling art. I had never heard of marbling before and thought it looked really interesting, something that could also be fun to do with children. I was just sooo excited when I saw that Martha Stewart Living’s March Issue had a section on Marbling!

Art of Marbling

There’s something peaceful about marbling. I love the flow of the colors and the lines. The fact that no two piece can be identical, just makes it that much more magical. Here’s a gorgeous photo of fabric that has been marbled and is now drying on a rack.

Marbled Fabric drying on a rackAren’t the fabrics absolutely beautiful? What would you make with these fabrics?
Cushions perhaps? Or maybe make a gorgeous statement tote or two?

Did you know that you can also use the marbling technique on cardboard?

So, what do you think of Marbling? Doesn’t it look fun? Have you attempted Marbling before? I’m planning on trying it out very soon with my daughters. We’ll make art to hang in the walls in the living room!

  1. Those are beautiful! I can see using them in a quilt. They could also be patched together and made into a patchwork jacket or vest. Heck, they would make a cute little patchwork dress! I saw a beautiful “bubble quilt” they’d be adorable on.

  2. The marbling projects are just beautiful! I would love to make a marbled table runner. I could make runners with different colors for each season!

  3. I love table cloths and placemats. I have one for nearly every occasion and holiday,so I think I would try making a set using this technique. It would be fun and unique. I love making my own table coverings with my own designs.
