I’m not sure if you remember the Baking Soda Easter Eggs I made a couple of years ago? If you don’t, I’ll give you a couple of minutes to go check them out, I’ll wait for you here. haha

Pure cuteness, right?! They were so fun to make and I’ve been dying to make some for Christmas. So obviously… I did, thanks to Gabrielle’s help.

Gabrielle and I made the Baking Soda Dough using this recipe.

We rolled the dough and used our favorite Christmas ornament cookie cutters to cut out the ornament shapes.

Before placing our ornaments in the oven, Gabrielle used a chopstick to poke holes through each ornament.

Instructions:

Step 1: Once the baking soda ornaments have cooled completely, use a file to file down any rough or jagged edges.

File baking soda ornaments so that they are nice and smooth.

Step 2: Use patterning tape to make your desired pattern.

We placed tape at the very top to mark off where we will be applying grey paint on the ornament caps. The other two tape sections are where we will be applying glitter.

Step 3: We applied three different colors of acrylic paint on the ornaments and painted the ornament caps in grey.

Step 4: Once the paint was dry, we removed the tape.

We used a paint brush to apply Mod Podge on one of the sections of the ornaments.

We immediately sprinkled glitter over that section.

When it was dried, we did the same thing on the next section of the ornament.

Once in a while we would notice that we didn’t apply enough glitter. In that case we applied Mod Podge over the glitter and sprinkled more glitter over it.

Applying Glitter to Ornaments

Step 5: We loved how sparkly the ornaments where with the glitter, but we found they were missing a little bit of sparkle on the painted parts.

We decided to apply glitter paint on certain sections of the ornaments. Great choice!

Step 6: And the final step… attach ribbon or cord to the ornaments! And voilà, beautiful Bright and Cheerful Baking Soda Christmas Ornaments!
