Bottle Cap Magnets!!!
How to make bottle cap magnets:
Supplies:
– Bottle caps (you can use unused ones or you can spray paint used ones)
– Scrapbook paper
– Magnets
– Embellishments (jewels, glitter, etc…)
– Mod Podge
– Clear Gel (I used Aleene’s Clear Gel Tacky Glue, however next time I’ll use the Mod Podge Dimensional Magic)
– Amazing Goop Craft Contact Adhesive
– Scissors
– Pencil
– A quarter
Step 1:
Take out your bottle caps and all your supplies.
Step 2:
Trace a circle on your scrapbook paper (I used a quarter as my guide) and then cut it out. Repeat this step until you have as many circles as you want.
Step 3:
Apply Mod Podge to your circles with a brush. You must apply some to both sides of the circle, do one side and wait until it dries before doing the other side.
Step 4:
Once your circles are dry, you are ready to glue your circles inside your bottle caps.
Step 5:
You can add some embellishments to your bottle caps. If you plan on adding glitter, don’t add it right now.
Step 6:
Now it’s time to apply the Clear Gel. You must do this slowly or you’ll get lots of air bubbles. If you do get bubbles, you can use a pin needle to burst them (however I like the look of the bubbles, so I did not burst any of them). **It takes at least 24 hours for the gel to dry. Do not touch or move your bottle caps until they are completely dry**
I did not apply the gel over the jewels, I just went around them.
If you plan on using glitter, use it now before the gel dries.
Step 7:
(24 hours later)
Glue the magnets to the back of the bottle caps.
Step 8:
Place them on your fridge and ENJOY!
