Riding a Horse for the First Time – Horseback Riding Lessons

When your child loves something, they really love it. Emanuelle has always LOVED horses. She melts for anything and everything horse related, this includes clothing with horse prints on them. haha We even do detours in order to drive by horse farms for her to see horses in the fields. She’s had horse themed birthdays the last two years. Yep, she really loves horses.

You can imagine how excited she was when my parents gave her horseback riding lessons for her birthday. She was thrilled and I mean THRILLED. This was a dream come true for her.

The day of her riding lessons I made sure my camera was fully charged, inserted an empty memory card, and equipped it with my lovely Canon EF 135mm f/2.0L USM lens (I can always trust it to give me beautiful shots!). I wanted to make sure to capture every moment of her dream becoming a reality.

Her horseback riding lessons included teaching her how to groom, prepare the horse for riding, and of course riding & fun tricks! She had a BLAST! Check out some of the shots I captured during her riding lessons:

And my FAVORITE shot that truly captures her joy:

Capturing every minute of a dream becoming a reality, like a child riding a horse for the first time. Photos that will be treasured forever.

You can’t tell me you can’t see the joy in her smile?! The entire experience was magical. She had so much fun and the instructor was very impressed with how well Emanuelle listened and executed the commands. Emanuelle will be going back for another lesson in a couple of weeks and she can’t wait! Gabrielle loved watching her sister horseback riding so much that she asked my parents for lessons for her birthday as well. :) Update: Gabrielle got horseback riding lessons too.

I’m so happy I captured her dream on camera. She keeps going on the computer to look at the photos. I will print a couple of them so that she can display them in her bedroom.

BTW, I have a Photography board on Pinterest that I will be adding photography tips that I find. Feel free to follow it if you are looking for tips too!

Have you been horseback riding before? I’ve never have, but watching Emanuelle sure makes me want to give it a try!

Have a GREAT day!

Christine

  1. I was also horse mad as a child. I took English riding lessons from 10 until I was in college and actually got to teach while I was in college. I love everything about horses, even the smell! I would still be riding if I could afford to and my health was good enough to do so.

I was a bullied loner in school, my fondest memories as a tweenie, teen and young adult almost always involved horses.

  2. How nice of grandma and grandpa to give her horseback riding lessons. There is nothing cuter than seeing a young girl get to fulfill her dreams like this! Before long she is going to be a horse riding pro.
