Dealing with a Summer Cold

Dealing with a summer cold. Getting a cold is no fun, especially during the summer when you would think cold season is behind you. I tend to get a cold once every summer, however this time it came a little earlier. I must admit that the timing of this cold isn’t ideal, but is it ever?!

I woke up on Friday morning feeling a little off. My throat a little sore, my nose stuffed up, and a headache. Great! A cold is on its way! The thing is, Saturday was track & field day for my daughters. We were all looking forward to spending the day together, the girls competing in various events, and Sébastien & I cheering them on.

Dealing with a Summer Cold

No way was I going to let this summer cold prevent me from being there to support and cheer on my daughters. First thing I did was take Orange Naturals Immune Health and Oil of Oregano. That’s what I did when I had a cold just before the holidays and it helped a lot. I also took MagPop! which is Magnesium supplement & effervescent drink.

Track & Field

Luckily, I did not miss out on my daughters’ track & field meet on Saturday because of my summer cold. My daughters did so well! Not only did they do their best all day, they were great sports, and cheered on their teammates the entire day. I am one proud mom!

Something else, quite amazing happened during track and field. We know that miss Emanuelle is a fast runner. Well, ok… we didn’t really know but we figured she was fast. Because she’s in Grade 1, her gym teacher decided to have her participate in the relay race (Only a few students from Grade 1 were asked to participate and only in relay race.)

Emanuelle was the 3rd runner on her team. The teams they ran against were really fast, so by the time Emanuelle got the baton from her teammate, the other teams were in the lead. If you look at the below photo it gives you an idea how far behind Emanuelle’s team was. She’s the little girl in blue way behind everyone. I wish I would have taken a photo as soon as she got the baton because the gap between her and the other teams was bigger than pictured below.

Relay Race

All of a sudden, this happened.

My baby girl is SUPER FAST! A little road runner! She ran past the other runners like it was as easy as 1-2-3. I was sooooooo proud of her! Her gym teacher ran to me to tell how she couldn’t get over how fast she was! She called her a little “bomb” and so fast that she asked her to race again on another team! hehe

You can imagine how relieved I was that I didn’t let my summer cold keep me home! I would have missed out on so many accomplishments that day, like Gabrielle beating her personal record on high jump and seeing Emanuelle running lightening fast!
