Can I dare you to do something? #DareYou
Many Canadians give to their communities with their time, talent, and/or money. Do you know why they give? Simply because someone asked them to, it’s as simple as that! Ok, that might not be the only reason, but research shows that it’s one of the main reasons. That’s why Dare2Give was created! It’s the latest in the My Giving Moment Campaign, inspired by the Governor General of Canada. Basically, we Canadians are being dared to give! Not just asked, but dared!

Dare2Give was created to encourage Canadian ‘givers’ to dare others (friends, family, co-workers, etc..) to donate and/or volunteer with them. When you think about it, if every giver dares someone to give, that giver doubles their giving impact! Imagine the impact that could have on Canada! Canada would be even higher on the caring scale! BONUS: by daring others, givers have a chance to win for their favourite charity including a grand prize of a television commercial!
There are so many ways we can give to our communities and it all depends on the type of giver you are. Do you like to give money to your community? Perhaps you have time you like to give? Or a talent you can share with others? You know, simple things like helping someone cross the road or helping them carry their groceries to their car counts has giving.
In my case, my favourite way to give to my community is through giving my time to my daughters’ school. I’m on the school’s PPO (Parent Participation Organization). We organize fundraisers and help the school with different activities. Some parents help out at the library and some volunteer at the school every single day for the breakfast program! We have parents that help during school outings. We also have parents that bake goodies for special occasions and for bake tables and some that create crafts to sell at fundraisers. Even the teachers give their time after school hours to help out during special school activities. We also have wonderful local businesses that donate goods and money to help out. There are so many ways to help out your local school. And the best part, you see directly how it impacts the school and the students. It allows the students to see how a community can work together to accomplish amazing things.
Look how beautiful the school’s Holiday Brunch was last year, thanks to everyone who gave:

This campaign just warms my heart, and I want to join in the fun too! So how about I participate too? I’m going to dare 3 people to give!
I Dare2Give:
- Mom, I dare you to give some of your talent to this year’s Holiday Brunch by creating crafts to give to the craft table!
- Dominique, I dare you to give your time in the kitchen at the Holiday Brunch! Maybe we can get you to take care of the eggs?
- Sébastien, I dare you to bake! Yes, I dare you to bake some delicious goodies for the bake table at the Holiday Brunch!

See how easy that was? I just tripled my giving impact! SWEET! Little things can make such a wonderful impact on our community, on Canada.
Oh, how about we make this even more interesting… I DARE YOU to participate in the Dare2Give Campaign!! It’s so easy to dare others to give, PLUS you may just win for your favourite charity including a grand prize of a television commercial! The contest ends December 14th, 2014 so head on over to the Dare2Give website for more information and enter your number of dares in the form below for your chance to win!
Now go on and Dare2Give!

Love that you focused your dares on one event – sounds like such a great time. I wish my children’s school had a Holiday Brunch – such a fun and festive way to celebrate the season.
This actually sounds like a lot of fun. I know there is meaning behind it as well which is awesome. I’m just thinking about who I’m going to dare.
The Dare 2 Give program is such a wonderful initiative! If we all dared just two people, the ripple effect will be huge! Thanks for sharing! (FYI – Had trouble entering on the contest form. Went to the website to enter)
I didn’t know there was a Rideau Hall foundation first of all. That’s very cool! The governor General is very supportive of many things close to my heart also. Great program.
I love this campaign!! I think if everyone dares one person we could make a huge snowball affect on the world!
What a great initiative! I think that if everyone got involved in something like this, the world would be a much better place :)
It’s try that doing things together makes a difference! We like to do a project at Christmas time, to give to a family in need (and we do it with my bro & sis-in-law’s family).. it’s a lot of fun to do it together, and it teaches our kids about giving, too!
You’re on! I will be more than happy to participate!
