This Christmas Countdown Printable is a quick and easy way to count down the days until Christmas. Simply print, cut, decorate, and frame it.
Every year I like to add to my DIY Christmas Countdown Collection.
I had a specific fun Christmas countdown in mind for this year, but I simply ran out of time to make it.
Still determined to make a countdown for this year, I found a super quick and easy countdown to make. It happens to be the perfect solution for my daughter’s apartment too as it doesn’t take much space and doesn’t need to hang on a wall.

Framed Christmas Countdown – Christmas Calendar
Supplies:
- Days Until Christmas Printable Countdown
- Premium matte photo paper (thick paper)
- Gold scrapbook paper (ribbon or washi tape would work also)
- Glue
- 4×6 picture frame
- Multi-Purpose Fasteners
Tools:
- Printer
- Scissors
- Paper cutter (optional)
Instructions:
Step 1: Print out the Free Christmas Countdown Printable pdf file (for personal use only) on thick paper like premium matte photo paper, regular printer paper is too thin for this project.
I created it using Canva, if ever you want to make your own.

Step 2: Cut out the 4×6 days until Christmas and the numbers.
P.S. If your cardstock isn’t very thick, you can thicken the numbers by gluing an extra layer of cardstock behind them. I would suggest doing this before cutting out the numbers.
Step 3: To decorate the countdown, cut out two strips of gold from the scrapbook paper.
Obviously, you can decorate it any way you wish using craft supplies you have on hand. Ribbon and washi tape will work too. Even a row of mini pom poms would be a fun way to decorate the Christmas calendar.
Step 4: Glue the gold strips onto the bottom portion of the cutout.
Step 5: Insert the countdown into the frame.
P.S. I bought this frame many years ago at Walmart, but I have seen similar ones at the dollar store.
P.S. If you want to speed things up, another simple way to countdown the days is to use a dry-erase marker instead of using the numbers I have provided in the printable.
Step 6: Cut the multi-purpose fasteners (loop side aka soft side) into 15 small squares. I cut the big squares into 4.
You’ll also need two little squares of the hook side aka prickly side.
P.S. Obviously you can also use small multi-purpose fasteners instead of cutting down big ones, that’s exactly what we used when my daughter made her Mini Christmas Countdown a few years ago. She attached her adorable countdown unto a little fireplace mantel. So cute!
I simply used the big ones for this project because that is what I had on hand, they were leftovers from our Glass Mounted Christmas Countdown.
Step 7: Remove the backing from the 15 small squares and attach them onto the back of the numbers.
Step 8: Attach the two small hook fasteners onto loop fasteners of two of the numbers.
Step 9: Place the numbers in the desired location on the glass of the frame.
Step 10: Remove the backing from the hook fasteners and press them into place on the glass.
Days until Christmas Countdown
Now you a fun Christmas countdown to use to count the number of days until Christmas day! YAY!
Replace the numbers each day to count down the days until Christmas.
I have stored the numbers in a little baggy behind the frame, however I will make a little felt pouch that I will attach to the back of the frame.
It turned out really cute, right?
If you like the deer art in the frame, you can find it in the A Very Merry Woodland Christmas Printable Wall Art along with a beautiful collection of Christmas printables. Who doesn’t love free printables?
Another cute printable is the Have a Holly Jolly Christmas printable from Craftberry Bush, it’s a beautiful red truck with a Christmas tree on top.
How do you count the days until Christmas? Do you have a subtle way to countdown or is it a statement piece like my Outdoor Christmas Countdown Marquee Sign?
I hope you have enjoyed making your own countdown calendar!
I’m off to make some more Christmas crafts to share with you!
