Glass Mounted Christmas Countdown

With Christmas just around the corner, it’s time to start counting down to Christmas!

Glass Mounted Christmas Countdown

Every year we like to create something that we can use to countdown to Christmas. One year we made a beautiful Wall Mounted Advent Calendar that we still treasure to this day and last year we made a super cool Outdoor Christmas Countdown Marquee Sign!

I have so many Christmas Countdowns that I have started a DIY Christmas Countdown Collection.

Of course this year is no exception!

We made a really fun Glass Mounted Christmas Countdown on a decorative door that we picked up from a friend that was renovating their home a few years ago! Goodness, do I ever love it too! This will be a staple in our holiday decorating each year. I especially love that my friends at Scotch® Brand helped me create it!

Instructions:

Step 1: Using a scalloped circle punch, I made 25 scalloped circles with red glitter card-stock and 25 scalloped circles with the striped beige/gold card-stock.

Then, I used my cutting machine to cut 25 Xs out of the red glitter card-stock.

Step 2: Next up, I used Scotch® Tacky Glue to glue one set of chipboard numbers (1 to 25) onto the red glitter scalloped circles and the other set of chipboard numbers (1 to 25) onto the striped beige/gold scalloped circles.

Step 3: I applied Scotch® Tacky Glue onto the back of the Xs and attached them to the center of the numbers on the striped beige/gold scalloped circles.

Step 4: Time to trim down the Scotch® Multi-Purpose Fasteners 7/8 in x 7/8 in. I used my scissors to cut each square fastener into four. I cut them until I had 50 small squares.

Step 5: I removed the liners from the Scotch® Multi-Purpose Fasteners I had just cut and attached them onto the center of the wood slices, making sure the hook side of the fasteners were attached to the wood slices.

Then, I removed the liners from the exposed fasteners (the loop side!) and attached the red glitter scalloped circles over them.

Step 6: I separated the 25 remaining fasteners, discarding the hook sides. I did not need the hook sides as they were already attached to the wood slices.

I removed the liners from the loop sided fasteners and attached them onto the back of the striped beige/gold scalloped circles.

Step 7: I used my scissors to cut my greenery into small pieces.

Step 8: I applied small pieces of Scotch® Clear Mounting Tape to the top edges of the wood slices (a little off center).

I removed the liners and attached the greenery.

I created a pattern with the greenery: greenery downwards – greenery with berries downwards – greenery upwards – greenery with berries upwards – etc… and the last one (#25) was a combination of both greeneries.

Step 9: I proceeded by applying Scotch® Clear Mounting Tape onto the back of the wood slices.

I recommend using this product on decorative glass or a window that you will use each year—it is permanent and can leave residue behind upon removal.

Step 10: I used Scotch® Expressions Washi Tape to mark off the corners of the location I wanted to place the wood slices. This helped me make sure that everything was well-centered.

Step 11: I cleaned the glass on my decorative door.

Then I removed the liners from the back of the wood slices and attached them onto the glass of my decorative door.

I started by attaching the ones on each corner and then one side. Using the wood slices I had attached already as a guide, I attached the remaining wood slices.

Step 12: Now the really neat part: as you countdown to Christmas, remove the red glitter scalloped circles and replace them with the striped beige/gold scalloped circles that have the Xs on them!

What do you think of my Glass Mounted Christmas Countdown? Isn’t it pretty?

I absolutely love it! I don’t think it could have turned out any better.

Don’t you love it when something you were imagining and created turns out just as beautiful as you had imagined?!

If ever you want to make one for yourself, but you do not have a decorative door, you can also do it on an old window and hang it on a wall or even in front of a another window!

Do you have a Christmas Countdown that your family uses to countdown to Christmas? Is it something you made?

Have yourself a FABULOUS day!

Christine
