Easy Decorative Twig Christmas Tree – Christmas Decor
Decorate with twigs by making a DIY Twig Christmas Tree.

With our basement renovations coming up very soon, Sébastien and I decided to keep Christmas expenses as low as possible.
As you can imagine, Christmas decorations will be at the very bottom of the list of things to buy this year.
New Christmas lights might be on the list of exceptions though, we’d like to get LED lights for our tree.
ANYWAYS, like I was saying, we are going to try to keep expenses low so that we can save for things we need in the basement.
Luckily, I can still update our Christmas decor with FREE things…. like this:
Decorative Twig Christmas Tree

I’m so LOVING the twig Christmas tree I made.
Not only is it EASY to make, it costs nothing!! You can’t beat FREE!!
The design is basically identical to the Wall Mounted Advent Calendar I made two years ago. Want to make one too?

Decorative Twig Christmas Tree
Supplies:
- Branches and twigs
- Pieces of wood – Something tall enough to attach twigs (about 22.5″ x 3/4″) and something to use as a base (7″ x 2.5″). Ideally wood that has weathered (been outside) so that the color matches the branches and twigs.
- Branch Cutters
- Hot Glue Gun
- Screw
Instructions:
Step 1: Cut pieces of twigs using branch cutters.
Start by cutting a small piece and work your way to bigger.
I started off with a piece about 3/4″ and my biggest piece was 13″. I cut a total of 21 pieces.

Step 2: Set your glue gun to high temp and hot glue the twigs onto your long piece of wood.
I left about 3/4″ between each piece.

Step 3: Once all the pieces are glued on, attached the tree onto the base with a screw.

And voilà… a decorative Christmas tree made with branches:
