Samsung GALAXY S4 – Mobile Phone #TELUS

A few weeks back I admitted that I just got my first mobile phone. Yes, you’re probably in shock right now (if you didn’t read that post). I’ll give you a few minutes to catch up, so go over and read my post My First Mobile Phone to get all caught up.

Welcome back! For the last 2 months I have been using the Samsung GALAXY S4, what a fabulous phone. For someone who has never had a mobile phone, this phone was so easy to understand. Plus, TELUS and Samsung Mobile Canada are both very active on Twitter.. so when I had a question I would send out a tweet to them and they would reply almost immediately, truly great service!

Android

The Samsung GALAXY S4 runs on the Android operating system so all Google’s apps work perfectly with it. I loved that I was able to use Hangouts anytime anywhere. It came very useful for communicating with my husband while I was out and about. He doesn’t have a cell phone so I’m unable to text him. With Hangouts, I could send him messages and photos instantly instead of sending him an email. This came in very useful when I came across this last week:

Artificial Christmas Tree - Samsung GALAXY S4

Oh no, your eyes are not playing tricks on you… yes I came across an artificial tree at an AMAZING price and just had to show it to my husband right away to see if I should pick it up. Snapped the photo and sent it to him. Five seconds later he replied and said “It’s not Christmas yet!”. haha But his second message said to grab it! haha Hangouts also came in VERY handy while I was away at LINK2013 and BlissDom Canada at the beginning of the month. I was able to video chat with my family everyday. I loved that I was away yet I didn’t feel away because I was able to ”see” them everyday. I was always just a video call away thanks to the rockin’ mobile network from TELUS.

Voice Typing Feature

One of my favorite features had to be the Voice Typing feature. Seriously, all mobiles should have this. Actually, scratch that thought.. every single piece of technology should have it! I LOVED IT! I used it all the time! It was great for texting, sending out emails, updating Facebook statuses, Tweets and it even permitted my daughter (who doesn’t write yet) to send messages to her father!

Camera – Dual Camera Mode

Of course the fact that I was able to take photos with the mobile was fabulous! The mobile is equipped with a Dual Camera mode; it has a 13-megapixel rear camera, equipped with 12 different shooting mode and has a dual camera mode that allows you to use both lenses at the same time. Basically, it has a rocking camera! I loved being able to snap and share, whether it was by email, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc… I had a good laugh when I used the camera for the first time.. I pointed it at Emanuelle and told her to smile.. and the camera took the photo! Yes, I said smile, the camera understood and took the photo without me touching anything. SO COOL!

Samsung GALAXY S4 Sync

My daughters really enjoyed watching videos on the Samsung GALAXY S4. The video quality was fabulous, crystal clear. They would watch movies on Netflix and clips on YouTube. I was surprised when I noticed that it syncs with my TV! I was able to use the mobile as a remote, AMAZING!

Maps

I mentioned briefly in my first post that having a mobile phone is allowing me to feel safer. One of the features that helped me A LOT was the Maps feature. Being able to have a tool guiding me with directions on how to get to the destination I wanted to get to, was WONDERFUL! It came in so handy a month ago when we headed to Montreal to pick up my parents at the airport. With all the road work going on, I was nervous we would get lost. However we did not get lost thanks to this feature! It’s like it new there was road work and it guided us around it with ease. Amazing!

Great mobile phone

I could keep going on and on about how much I enjoyed the phone. I was, quite honestly, sad when I sent it back yesterday, it’s a great piece of technology. The Samsung GALAXY S4 will always hold a special place in my heart. haha :)

  2. Oh I so want to try the galaxy s4!! It looks like a great phone and i have only been able to use a much older Samsung so I’m sure it doesn’t even compare! I just discovered the world of smartphones myself and have to admit I am in love!!

  4. I love the galaxy series. I have a first gen one and love it. It’s actually a hand me down and my first ever smart phone that I started with in the beginning of this year. Beautiful and addictive :) I wouldn’t mind upgrading, just need to save up a bit! thanks for the review!

  6. My BF has a Samsung Galaxy and loves it. I’m jealous, lol. You’re right…I’m shocked you just got your first phone :) LOVE Telus and their customer service/online support. I’m a big fan.

  8. I have an older Galaxy and I love it! I am thinking about upgrading since the dog ate the silicone cover I had and cracked the screen… but right now, it still works. Thanks for the review!

  9. Love the 13 megapixel camera and the 12 different modes. Wow I would love to learn more about voice typing. Sounds like a great phone.

  11. I hear great things about the Samsung Galaxy phones! I just recently entered the world of smartphones and I actually had an Galaxy 3 for a few days but I found it too big to hold in my small hands. LOL!

  12. I am ready to upgrade my phone and i never thought I would stray away from Apple.. but the Galaxy line looks amazing! I am reconsidering!
